You're asking me to go back a long long time, but if memory serves the minimum wage at that time was about 35 cents/hour.  I was working as a mechanic & making $20/day.  I worked across the street from a cafe & could get lunch for 75 cents.  That was roast beef, mashed potatos, gravy & applesauce or coleslaw.  The nickel coke was included.
