What was the word??

I have been sick the last couple of days, stuck in bed. One of our just 5 month olds was with me and I swear he said *Muma*. It was so close, if it wasn't.

I hope he says it again.

Our elder boys were all slow with their speech, one didn't speak clearly till around 22 months (hearing problems) and the other was around 12 months. The eldest came into our lives talking.

  4. Hey Charli -Hope your feeling better soon, babe

From memory, Joseph was saying Gran, Mum and Dada about 7 months

Had a lot going on at that time with Rebecca being in hospital, and didnt keep a diary like i wanted too

Joseph spent much of the first 6 months with his Gran, so no surprise that was one of his first words.

    Get better soon babe, hey.

  5. My 1st daughter was 11 weeks old exactly when she said Mum, when my MIL asked her want she wanted as she was screaming, she stopped screaming said Mum, then started screaming again, if it wasn't for a roomful of family none of us would of believed it. then 3 days later a friend was holding her and telling her she was a gorgeous cheeky monkey and my daughter said "NO"" lol we cracked up, very clear and precise. and she never shut up since then lol. My 2nd was about 5-6 months old and she said Mum, but only said it like 3 times before moving on to Dada a week later and didn't say Mum again for a month, everytime I tried to get her to say Mum she just laughed at me lol, lilmonkey was doing it on purpose.

Well Done to your lil man, hope he says it again soon for you... too cute.

  6. dada

  7. My 7 month old started saying Mom-Mom at 4 months and wouldn't stop.

    It is now just Mom.

  8. well my friend couldn't speak until he was four years old

but then he became very fluent then, because he was listening....but not talking when he was a kid

usually they speak around 12 months

    but don't worry

  9. Our twin son Thomas (pictured left ) was first to say his first word 'Dadda' and then his speech just completely stopped and Kylie started with 'momma'  and carried on from there

  10. Milana said "Daddy/Dadda" at almost 9mnths.

    Scarlett said "Tree/Twey" at 7mnths

    & Avalon said "Mumma/Mummy" at 8mnths.

Scarlett especially came into our lives talking.

They were all saying "Da-ha" "Teeh" & "Mar-mah" much younger, but those ages are when it was FULLY understandable.

I just thought i'd add some funny ones of people i know.

    My brother's was "Donalds" [McDonald's]

My sister didnt say anything until she was 13mnths old, she then blurted out "Dont you dare Nicki" - Nicki is our older sister and our mum always said that to her! - I thought it was funny.

Oh; and my newphew's first word was "Strayla" [Australia]. I thought it was just adorable. He got Australia right before mumma and dadda.

  11. I swear my son has been saying "yeah" since he was about 5 months, but you know what it's like - you don't know if you're just imagining it because you want to hear them talk!   Other people have sworn he said it too!   Whenever he was babbling I'd always say "yeah?  Is that true?!"... so it's possible I guess coz I do say it a lot!

He's nearly 8 months old now (on the 21st), and sometimes I swear he is saying "mu-uuum" when he's woken up from a sleep, but I'm the only one around when he does it, so again, I'm not sure if I'm "hearing things".

I can't wait until he undoubtledly says his first word though (I hope it's mum  LOL) !

Oh! And my daughter's first word was mum (hahaha, that annoyed her dad!!) and she was about 6 months old :)

  12. My son's first word was dada an he said dog on the same day.. he was 9 months.

My daughter's first word was dada when she was 11 months.

Im hoping my youngest son (6 wks) says mum first!

  13. both of my boys said "mumum" as their first word and this was around 10 months. They now talk ALL of the time (grin).

  14. my daughter was saying Mum at 6 months, my son was saying....Mum at 8 months and now I wish I could change my name to sonya to stop hearing Mum, Mum, Mum, Mum, Mum, lol.

  15. his first word was athha(aunt) in about 8th or 9th month

and there is no problem if they dont speak in early months.some children will speak lately

  16. they were 9.5 months old. there was the usual mum stuff but I went on the first one that was out to get my attention. So my son said Mum! (hasn't stopped after almost 9 years lol) and my daughter was NO!NO!NO! so she started with three words.

Glad to see it wasn't chicken Pox. Hope you feel better soon.

  17. my son  first word was mum at 3months

now all he shouts is his papa(grandad) and mum when he wants something

he is now a year old in  10days

  18. we have 11 children and not 1 of them has talked at the same time  some were as young as 5 - 6 months old one is now 4 and still not speaking and it will be great when Finlay he starts to speak .... we all take such a simple thing for granted

  19. I can't really remember to be honest!

I do recall that they all said "dada" first (little buggers, lol), I think it was around 6 months old.

All mine never started talking properly, putting words together until after their 2nd birthdays, but there is no stopping them talking now!

Funny how you can't wait for them to say "Mum", but then some days you so wish they would stop saying it!
