  1. Mine have always been placed at the edge of the roof, so any holes wouldn't matter.  Additionally, I believe that the mounting hardware doesn't penetrate all the way through the roof's surface, so there's no way for water to get through.


  2. they also caulk around it.....if they have to...

  3. They don't attached to the top of the roof. (At least not suppose to.) They attach it to the side of the roof, on the overhang.

  4. Don't let then attach to the roof. Have in installed to the side of the house. The mounting screws are then coated with silicone sealent.
