Or do you just run around and look mean. I watched about 3 seasons and could never figure out what was going on. I understand American football and what everyone else calls football (I call soccer). But I am sure that there are no rules to Australian Football.

  1. check out http://afl.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsAr...

Or go to afl.com.au   click on game development scroll down to umpiring and click on laws of the game. The rules for Aussie rules are downloadble from there in pdf format

  2. pleanty of rules in afl. Im an umpire!!

You call American Football soccer?? I call that Gridiron.

Afl has many rules. Cant tackle above the shoulder and below the knee, cant push them in hte back, have to bounce the ball every 15 meters. there are like.....100 laws and 15 or so rules but dont ask me all of them cause i havent checked the rule book for a while!

Gee, look at american football. Your '15 minute' quarters take over an hour, you were thick *** padding and helmets as well as just running into each other... and you say that our game is confusing??

  3. Lots of people, who are new to Aussie Rules, are like you & find it hard to understand the rules.

Don't be upset by the abusive one in here - she abuses everyone who has an opinion that may differ from hers. Not all AFL fans are so rude.

I had trouble understanding your rules when I first watched the game being played. I couldn't understand why it was such a stop/start game. It intrigued me that some players don't actually touch the ball for the whole game. Their role is solely to block.

    Anyway, everyone to their own.

Plus, with some of the umpires we have in our game I sometimes wonder what rules they are butchering!

  4. yes, there are rules--

If you don't understand it Bill you can always get a book or go on line

  5. Of course there are rules!

How can you base your opinion on just watching and not bothering to find out about the rules!

    Heard of google?

You might get an idea of the rules there!

If you watched 3 seasons, (which would have been over 3 years because we only have one footy season per year)

and you still don't understand the rules, then either you weren't paying attention or you are pretty unintelligent!

Sounds like the latter to me!! (which means the last word I said)

Yes, we have many rules, some would argue too many bloody rules! Try and do some research before slagging off our game!!!

    d**k head!!
