Question:

When/How do you add a new baby to your insurance???

I am a little 21 weeks pregnant, so it is going to be a little while until our daughter arrives. But I am wondering when do I add her to our insurance. Do we call the insurance company and ask? Or can it possibly be done ahead of time? Or do we wait until shes born, and call the next day?

I also have policies with Aflac, but that I already know how to add her too. So that's not a problem.

But the Health insurance thing I am really confused about... So any answers/advice will help. Thanks.

  1. As you are carrying your child, your health and hers are linked.

You should make the addition to the policy before the birth and then change again once the baby is born and becomes an independent entity.

Some companies will allow this but some wont.

If you became ill then it would transfer (in some form) to the baby.

The same with injury, what hurts you may hurt the baby.

A lot of health insurance policies have pregnancy written into the contract so all you have to do is contact them after the birth to add the new arrival.

Give them a call and chat to them, they will know what type of scheme you have and can advise you much better.

By the way, congratulations on the imminent birth of your daughter
