When I'm recording a show with my HD cable box, do I have to stay on that channel?

I have a motorola HD cable receiver, and i've set it up so it will record from mon-friday at 5pm. It only recorded on monday, but it didnt record on tuesday. I wasn't home when it was being recorded, so i dont know what the difference is...do i have to set the tv on the right channel so it will record? do i have to leave the tv on??

no only if you're recording 2 at at time then you have to be watching one of the shows. you don't have to leave the tv on and you need to actually set up the recording schedule under your recording tools
