I am biracial, and YES, i do use a heat protector.

Also, during the summer, like now, when I flat iron it, it doesnt stay flat, it frizzes out, even though I use a frizz control product.

These are all the products I have/have tried for these problems:

-Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide

-All Chi Products

- Garnier Frutice Sleek And Shine Frizz Control

and my flat iron is a chi. I have also tried several of them.

What can I do to keep my hair smelling better, and control the frizz (remember, i'm biracial)

  1. Oh goodness... sounds like you have the heat settings way too high! Your going to cause major damage and it's not worth it!  Girl,  stop frying up your beautiful hair!  Have you ever tried wearing your hair in its natural state? If you want to wear it straight, try lowering the heat settings and put as little product on the hair as possible. ... Less is more! Good luck!

  2. you might have it on a setting too high, or you might be putting in too much product, and that can sometimes burn when straightening your hair

maybe adding a touch of hairspray (like barely any) on your hair afterward can make it smell better

  3. if it smells burnt, then most likely you are burning your hair regardless of the heat protection.

honestly i only use a little fructis leave in conditioner in clean hair and use the my vidal sassoon flat iron on the lowest heat setting possible. never had my hair burn doing that.

also make sure the plates on your iron is clean (you can use some rubbing alcohol to clean the plates). the buildup from previous straightenings can burn and get into your hair as well.

never use any products with alcohol when your using a straightener. remember alcohol burns!

  4. spray it with perfume =]

  5. its good that you use a heat protector but since it is the summer time the sun can cause more damage to your hair.

to control the frizz you can try some gel but it turns flaky after a few hours. you can also try to spray plenty of hairspray and put more heat protector and make sure all your hair is covered with it. Hope this helped you!
