  1. It will really help to cut the fabric on the bias.  The piping simply will not lay flat even on a straight section if you don't do that.  Making bias binding is a little more trouble but it's totally worth it for the finished result.


  2. Yes, you need the ease from the bias cut for the fabric to lay flat.

  3. I use to do upholstery for about 3 yrs and I never cut my material on the bias for my piping

  4. I do agree with the first answerer....but I did find out the hard way....by using the straight of the grain....It is better to take the time to do the bias..

  5. You do need to cut fabric on the bias for pipiing and ruffles.
