When I bite down I hear cracking on the left side of my mouth, why?

When I bite down semi hard I hear a cracking noise on the left side of my mouth, it feels like it's something in my upper teeth, what is it? It only started after I had my wisdom teeth removed...could it be a damaged filling? Thanks!
