Question:

When I bought my ME PC (Oct '01) the File System was FAT32. Was that all that was available then??

Or did they stick me with an old one?

iaw when was NTFS born?

  1. ME was the worst version of Windows ever released.  But it had nothing to do with FAT32.

  2. 98 and me only understand FAT. They will NOT run NTFS file systems. Only NT could at that time.

  3. Well Windows ME has FAT32 system on it. There was no other version. Win2K did support NTFS, but again, there was an intervening time when home users could choose only WinME as the Operating System, that was till XP came. It was either ME or 98. Both were using FAT32. NTFS in windows 2000 was supposed to be for "Business Users" like WindowsNT before it. Its only when people wanted same security at home that M$ decided to go for NTFS for home users too..
