When I buy stuff online why is it sometimes shipped to the post office and other times to my mailbox?

  1. Like the previous guy said.....

    there are lots of reasons. Like if it needs signed for. and if you live in an apartment complex that is know for package theft, they the're more likely to take it back to the postoffice, rather than leaving it.

    If you live on  arural route, you can fill out a form stating where you'd like to have the package left.

    I acutally had one customer who filled out and signed blank forms for insured items, so she wouldn't have to be there for the mail carrier. You'd have to have a long & trusting relationship with your carrier to pull that one off though.

  2. Could be any number of reasons.

    The overall size of the package perhaps. Too big to fit in your mail box?

    Or the package may need to be signed for. Some sellers require that you sign a receipt when you get a package.
