When I call my friends phone, it says "Please enter your remote access code" but he has an answer machine

Im just wondering why his phone rings a million times then says "Please enter your remote access code", and then sometimes it goes to the answering machine. Does it mean that he screens his calls, or that the phone is off the hook, or what?

the default is usually 0000....try that!

Probably what's happened is that the answering machine was shut off and if you let it ring "a million times"  the machine will be prompted to turn back on (usually after 10 rings) and then the RAC needs to be entered to reactivate the machine.

If I were you I wouldn't try it...it's a good way to ruin a friendship and get yourself into potential trouble.
