When I call to check on my applications what should I say to make them want to interview me?

This is what I usually do:

me-"Hi,I'm calling today to check on my application"

manager-"We're not hiring right now"

me-"thanks"

then I hang up.

Some of the people I talk with seem to have an attitude about it and I be wanting to talk bad to them,but I know that won't accomplish much.The thing is,I'm tired of doing applications and getting no results.It's my senior year of high school and I just got a car so I'd really like to have money.I have no work experience(besides pet siting and tutoring kindergarten kids?).I haven't just started applying...I've been applying for a year and a half.A lot of times at the same places...they persist to tell me they aren't hiring,yet I always hear of people getting hired there.SO,I see I'm going to have to make them give me a job.At this point I'm willing to work anywhere and say anything to make them hire me.Any ideas?

And WHY are managers always so rude?It's not like I'm hurting them by asking a simple question...I mean,I ask very politely(I'm a nice person generally anyway)..

Places I've applied at within the past couple weeks:

-H.G Hills grocery store

-Domino's Pizza

-McDonalds

-Walgreens drugstore

Dont think nothing of them being rude, they are just busy people and managers tend to be curt. From what places you are describing it looks like you might still be in high school. And if thats the case just keep doing what you are doing, but when you drop off the app ask for a manager then and there to give it to or wait a bit and see if you see one around, dont be to insistant on it but asking usually helps.

One thing you might want to consider tho is, trying to find a job online that can give you some experience, make up a quick resume and try craigslist and careerbuilder ect... Better money hopefully and servers make really good money i tried really hard to get one of those jobs when i was younger
