  1. no, you check the fluid level while the car is running and warmed up in park .

  2. no you do it with the engine running at operating temperature and idling in park or neutral, wait until the engine warms up though to check it,when cold all of them will read over full, good luck,

  3. no, you keep it running to check the transmission fluid. keep it running and in park. park on a level surface.

  4. Do it while the cars is at operating temperature, while running in park.

  5. Get teh transmission warm by driving it and then let it idle. Check it then. That is the way it should be done

  6. The trans has to be at operating temp to check it. Usually its done in park or nutral with the engine running. The dipstick might tell you which one but the owners manual will tell you for certain the procedure for your specific model.

Some new cars have a lock on the dipstick so that you cannot check the fluid level yourself. This is because manufactures know that the number 1 cause of transmission failure is because people overfill them.

  7. usually on an automatic, the car has to be running and either in neutral or park, it will say on the dipstick, and usually they have to be hot. The dipstick should give you all the info on how to check it. IE: check in park, engine running, and hot. Always check on level ground too.
