When I click on control panel, the system restarts, how do I fix the problem?

My computer (Windows XP service pack 2) was infected with a trojan that used autorun.inf, Now I have fixed the problem and removed the trojan, all the things are working fine. The only problem is that when I try to open control panel, the system restarts. Please help me to correct this problem. I shall be grateful to you.

This can either be a software or hardware problem .

I suggest to open the cabinet and checkout your RAM - because restarts can happen unexpectedly if the RAM is dirty or dust coated . Remove the dust if any and put it back .

If you think thats not the problem then there are two options

1. Restore your system to a previous date by using system resote option in start menu.

2. Repair windows using the windows cd.

u can install kaspersky antivirus 1 month trial pack(free). if any virus attacked, they must be romoved. or try to install a softwarwe named SYSTEM MECHANIC 8.

1) Go to C:\right click go to properties tools error fix errors tick little box to fix errors and reboot windows will B4 it reboots scan drive and fix errors then restart this should fix it

If not try

2) Press F8 when booting when new page pops up select last known good configuration press enter this will reset computer back to a good config

well boot ur system and press F8, b4 the windows booting starts

so boot ur system using safe mode and then go to control panel and then change it to classical view if the problem still continues

if u cant do that.i am afraid u need to do clean install of xp and next time get a good anti virus software
