Question:

When I connect my UTP cabel to my laptop, it doesn't show up on my computer.

I used wireless before that. The UTP cabel is connected to my router. The router gives a light that its connected correctly.

  1. start \ run \  type ncpa.cpl press enter

    r click on local area connection \ property \

    chk on upon "show icon in notification....................."

    hit ok

  2. a wired ethernet driver may need to be installed if it was never there before or it may be disabled and all you need to do is go into hardware find it manually and enable it if there is no driver or if it just does'nt see the eternet card built into your desktop whatever take it off with the comp off turn it back on and put it in with the power on

    or you could just go back to wireless since you already know it works

  3. Right click on "mynetwork place" >properties > select your local area  conenction >  right click >properties > give check mark on "show icon in notification are when conencted"
