  1. all i can say is practice.  And don't mind the opinions of others.  If it makes you happy, do it.  If you want to break out dancing in the middle of an amusment park or mall do it.

  2. It is totally normal.  I went through this process.  I felt so much passion when I first started dancing and I thought I was really good.  But I would feel kinda embarrased to look at my dance videos from when I just started now.  I doubt many people look great when they first start. How can you be a amazing driver when you first start driving? But it is not important.  What is important is the passion inside of you that moves every body of your body.  That makes you feel totally alive and energetic. that makes you dream with your feet. If you have this kind of passion then you will eventually be pretty good through practice  tips:  1.get a good fundation.  I do hiphop and poppin but I find it extremely helpful to learn jazz or even ballet.  It allows me to reach higher level especially if you start off doing hiphop or freestyle.  2.Watch a lot of dance videos. ALOT!  your mind will unconsciously sink in a lot of the movements you watch.  They will magically appear in the future with little twists in your own dancing routines.  3. Be totally in your body everytime you dance, not in your head unless you trying work on some moves.  make big movements and be creative with them.  I feel you can make any move look good if you have a good fundation and lots emotion.  4.  Be fully commited everytime you dance.  Be fully commited to whatever movement you make.  like MJ, many of his movements are not hard to do,  but they look so good because he is fully commited and opens him up completely with every movement.  Hope these help.  good luck and keep dancin!

  3. use the information to improve your posture and moves- dancing is for fun, not how good you look, someone that is having fun is always great to spend time with.

  4. Ouch.  Video is truly your harshest critic, isn't it?

The good news is it shows you exactly what you are doing wrong.  I have grown up dancing, singing, and playing piano.  I've had to watch myself on tape for all of these things, and I still hate it to this day.  But it has brought me to where I am today.  My voice teacher made me sing every week into a tape recorder!

Watch the tape, and figure out whats making you look so bad.  Are you off the beat?  Are you too stiff?  Are your movements not sharp enough?  Are you just moving weird?

Once you pinpoint the things you are doing wrong, you can start working on it.

  5. you just have to practice... no one's perfect... and you have to beleive that you're a good dancer... best way to learn is through observation if you don't get lessons... youtube is a good way to learn...

  6. You feel like you are really good when you dance because you are full of passion.

Passion will carry you a long way.

Now all you need to do is get some technique.

Practice dance movements, steps, TECHNIQUE, so it becomes NATURAL, rather than just counted steps.  Once you have the natural technique, added to passion--- Watch out!  You will be an outstanding dancer. :)
