  1. No.

Alcohol is a vasodilator.  That means when you drink alcohol, your blood vessels dilate, or get wider.  When the vessels in your face dilate, more blood is brought close to the surface of your skin.  That's what makes your face turn red when you drink.

Drinking more often, over a long period of time, will only cause the vessels to remain dilated even when you aren't drinking.  It will also cause vessels in your face to burst.  Very often, this leads to a drinker having a nose and cheeks that stay red or even a reddish-purple color, with visible red lines where vessels have burst.

I bet you're very fair-skinned, which makes the redness even more apparent.  But unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to make your face not turn red, except stop drinking alcoholic beverages.

  2. It sounds like you have an slight allergy to certain types of alcohol you should see your doctor. See if he/she can help you. you might need to try different types to see which one affects you. eg beer, rum, wine, scotch, then eliminate the one that makes you go red.

  3. Actually I have heard sugary drinks with help with the redness.

Drinking stronger and faster will make it worse, because its a reaction for the alcohol itself.

Try taking an antihistamine a couple of hours before drinking.  That maybe help.

  4. Nope.  It's most likely something called Alcohol Flush Reaction, and has to do with the way your body breaks down chemicals.  See the source link to read more about it!

  5. No. Liquor dilates the blood vessels, which causes blood to rush to the surface of your skin, which is why your face gets red. Drinking more will only make it worse.

  6. Used to have a lady friend that had that problem. She had a recent DUI conviction and was in an Antibuse  program. She would get a red blotchy rash when she drank.

  7. Nope drinking more often or stronger liquor will not help to reduce it! The stronger the liquor the redder your face will get most likely. I have the same problem..and i used to drink hard liquor on a daily basis.
