Question:

When I fast forward on my DVR, it always jumps pack a bit from the point where I stop fast forwarding...why??

  1. It does that on every DVR. I think they made it that way just to make it easier not to overshoot the point you wanted to stop.

The DVR is trying to take into account your reaction time.  It takes time for you to realize that you are at the point you would like to resume viewing.  From there it takes more time for your brain to send a signal down to your finger to hit the play button.  The manufacturers assumes that by the time you hit the button you are actually a little bit further then you intended to be.  They programed the DVR to jump back a little bit when you hit play so that you are at the point you wanted to be.  That way you shouldn't have to rewind.  Theoretically.
