When I let off the starter (turning the key) the engine makes a loud squeak noise....what is it? Is a belt loose?

  1. it sounds like a dry belt,if so use belt dressing and if you see cracks on belt then change it.


  2. A loose belt or your starter.

  3. it could be a belt that is dragging or a starter that is having difficulty releasing.  

  4. you need a new belt.
