i have hypothyroidism and i smoked pot on saturday night. I am going to get my thyroid levels (THS) and T3 and T4 tested (and whatever they usually test when theyre just checking on my levels). Will they be able to tell if i smoked pot. I'm 16, so if i did, is it still confidential, or no? And also, just curious, how is a test for marijuana performed? (a blood test, or a urine sample, or both?)

  1. The first answer is: NO.  Normal TSH panels will not show marijuana use, these are blood works not urine tests.

The second answer is: YES. Unfortunately THC (an element in pot) will show up in your urine so if it were to be tested that would show up (if there is a tox screen being performed).

Third:  Yes.  Although there are strict laws in place (if you live in the US) that protect you against strangers and spouses obtaining your private medical information.  A parent of a minor child can still obtain blood test results and other pertinent information.  I have seen this transpire. Sorry. If your Dad is on to your marijuana habit you are on the spot.
