I just finished my 2nd day of profuse running exercise and whenever I am nearing the end of my run I get a sharp pain in the lower right part of my body. It is a LITTLE bit towards my back. Please help.

  1. I was told it was from a lack of oxygen, because that often happens to me when i run, so when you get pains, just stop for a few minutes and catch your breath :)

  2. This sounds to me like it is a side stitch. It's pretty normal for beginning runners and even conditioned runners will occasionally experience this. Basically, the muscles in your sides are not getting enough oxygen. This is because your body is not able to adequately supply oxygen to these muscles. Stopping and stretching your sides will help this, as will stopping and putting your hands on the top of your head. Unfortunately when you start running again, there is a strong possibility that this will return. The best thing to do is just loosen up your arms and relax. Over time this will go away.

  3. It's a "side sticker" or cramp, you get it from not breathing while running. when you run, try not to talk much and breath correctly and not pant. Eating right before running plays a part too.

  4. It does sound like a side stitch.  Its cause by the liver pressing down on the diaphram.  There are a couple cures, 1. slow down 2. breathe deeper 3. exhale on your left foot.... sounds stupid but it works. and lastly stop and stretch it out.

  5. its probably a cramp so id eat lots potassium and salt at night to absorb water and drink lots of water during the day and a sports drink at night.
