  1. seems to be a horse that is very sensitive to the reigns.  Use a light touch when reigning for turns and slightly pull back when the horse gets to close to the one in front.  For veering off, just correct it.  Sounds like the horse is bored and not paying attention.  You need to be in controll.  Maybe ask for help if you think you are doing something wrong, I can't see what you are doing, just looking at what you typed.

  2. You do need some help

If he moves into your leg . your in trouble

you really need help with a pro

It hard to really tell you here with out seeing it happen

so Its really unfair to you to listen to so many different answers It will confuse you and your horse even more !!

except the fact you need a trainer to help

    Maybe take part time lessons

you do not need to put your horse in Training

just a few lessons I think will help

    good luck kid

  3. JUMP !

  4. If you're riding in the arena, then pass the horse in front of you.  If you're on the trail, use your reins and pull back to slow your horse down so it's not right behind the other horse.

If your horse veers to the right, then push with your right leg against his side and step harder into your left stirrup.  that will even him out to keep him straight.

To turn more gradually, don't pull so hard on the rein and use your inside leg to make him bend around the turn instead of leaning into it.

  5. just give the horse a little kick to the ribs this should help.

  6. just pull the rein gently back

  7. Practice basic ques in safe area such as a round pen or hacienda.  When communication between rider and mount improve the level of mutual confidence, trail ride alone.  Long relaxing trail riding builds skill of both rider and mount.  Trail rides also give natural exposure to a variety of sights and sounds.

  8. I presume this is english riding not western?

I used to find getting too close to the horse in front very hard with strong horses.  You need to make sure that you are relaxed otherwise the horse can pick up tension and therefore go faster.  Try half halting which is when you give and take gently with the outside rein according to the horses head movement.  If you don't understand this ask someone how to do it.  With the horse I rode, I was told to relax the reins and after weeks of him barging into horses in front, he put his head down and went properly.  It may be that you panic and your reins get too short.  If the reins rub your hands you could get gloves.

If your horse veers off to the right shorten the left rein to encourage him to keep his head forwards.  If you are in an arena make sure that you do work on both reins (ie both directions around the arena) so that the horse doesn't become one sided.  You may also lean slightly to one side which could confuse the horse.  If you have an instructor ask them about this or you could get someone else to check.

To turn use your inside leg (ie left leg if you turn left) to keep the horse from turning sharply.  You could try doing circles of different sizes to practice turning.

  9. try half halting or just keeping a tight rein, loose reins are a reward so when he does well give him his head and he'll learn that it's a reward not something he's entitled to.

  10. be careful with the reigns and maybe think of getting some trainging.

  11. You should tell it that Tail gating is an offence, it could get 3 points.

  12. You have little or no control over the horse you ride.

Rein back.Use your knees to indicate which way you want to go.Find yourself a riding master.
