When I go out on my back porch and feel the air I truly believe this is going to be a cold winter?

I know no matter what the weather is it's caused by global warming.

But the question is did the north pole melt all the way this summer as Global Warmers hoped it would?

  1. "But the question is did the north pole melt all the way this summer as Global Warmers hoped it would?"

No one in their right mind wants the Arctic to melt but that is what appears to be happening AGW proponents have their far left just as deniers have their far right, I think few really thought the Arctic would melt entirely this year the more realistic figure is 10-20 years, which is the blink of an eye in geologic terms.

  2. I feel a cold winter coming too.   Probably a few square feet of ice left  and 2 inches deep.

  3. Could be, short term weather in any one location can do pretty much anything.

The North Pole thing was an offhand "maybe" by an Arctic ice specialist, not a serious calculated prediction.

  4. Your question is, of course, loaded, so let's take it apart a bit:

Did the ice over the north pole melt? Not yet and probably won't.

Did Global Warmers "hope" it would? Of course not - we dread that it might happen, why would we hope for a disaster?

Was there a prediction that it would melt? No. There was a forecast that there was a 50-50 possibility (that's what words like 'could' or 'might' mean) that it would melt. There was also a forecast that there is a 90% possibility that it will be ice free in 20 years.

  5. The past 14 months have been colder than normal, so why not another cold winter?  I'm sure the climate is changing for the colder.  And no, the north pole didn't melt...what else is new?  But I bet that tidbit got Al Gore a few bucks from someone.

  6. If you really can forecast what the winter is like, you can make BIG MONEY, I mean a fortune, in commodities trading. But have you tested your skill level or are you just spouting off?

Weather is a function of many things, including the anthropogenic forcing of the climate due to greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation.  It also depends on many other factors, including its previous state, the state of the sun, where Earth is in its orbit, and on and on.  So when you say that "no matter what the weather is it's caused by global warming" you are making a large oversimplification that no legitimate scientist would make.

I doubt that anyone except for shippers and oil exploration people hoped that the arctic would melt this summer.  Oh, and by the way, there is still more than a month left of summer.

  7. The cold winter is coming...that is a fact!!!
