  1. If you want to use the TGV when everyone else does, say on a Friday afternoon, then buy the ticket in advance.  If you are travelling when it's not so busy, I would recommend buying it when you get there--at any train station.  Also check holidays--that's when Parisians get out of town and others come to...it's mayhem!

  2. I recommend you buy your tickets in advance.

TGV is very popular and it's difficult to find seats, especially fridays afternoons+evenings, sunday evenings, monday mornings. July and August are very popular too.

Some destinations are very popular too (paris, lyon, strasbourg, lille) at any time.

On the website, you can send the tickets to your home adress nearly everywhere in the world.

There were a possibility to get a reservation code from the internet and to get the ticket at any train station in a TGV ticket machine. But you have to get the ticket a few hours before taking the train.

You will get much better prices if you reserve in advance.

Here are the busiest days on the roads in France (that's about the same in trains)

    for april-june and

    for july-september.

If you need other dates, juste precise it, i will update my links.

  3. The sooner the better.

On a train station or in internet.

  4. Book it before on the site, you will get cheaper offers. You can pick up your ticket with the booking registry number until 30 mn before the train leaves.

  5. sure.. it's better you buy when you get there

  6. Buy it in advance from here www.voyages-sncf.com.

You can choose to have your ticket sent to you or to collect it from a machine at the station. The sooner you book it the cheaper it will be.

  7. as soon as u can

    just go to voyages-sncf.com

  8. when you get there, so you don't have to worry about international taxes.
