  1. just a guess... but I bet it goes towards the delivery person's salary (i think they make the most of their money from tips though so i could be wrong)

  2. I think it's the pizza place.

  3. the driver gets it.. how do u think they pay his wages

  4. i think the delivery dude would. maybe to ensure he did get some sort of "tip"

  5. The delivery charge goes to the pizza place and you can put in tip separately either from the online order or hand giving it to the delivery person.

  6. I'm a manager at Domino's Pizza and the delivery charge does NOT go to the driver. It is common for people to assume that it does (when we first introduced the delivery charge even I thought the driver's would get it) but they don't. That money goes directly back into production. Most places however do pay mileage to their drivers to help with the rising gas prices, but that varies by store and location. For instance, my delivery drivers have $1.25 delivery charge, and get paid $1.00 per delivery to help with gas.. but the local Pizza Hut has $1.55 delivery charge, and they only get paid $.85 per delivery from their owners to help with gas. There is also a Chinese food place here in town that charges $.75 per delivery and doesn't pay their drivers anything at all!! All they get is tip money!! Hopefully this helps you, and please remember.. tip your driver!!

  7. the pizza place gets the delivery fee. it's applied to gas costs

  8. The pizza shop uses the charge to help defray the costs they are incurring to have delivery service. They pay the drivers.

  9. I've worked delivery before and the delivery charge goes to the pizza owner and not the employee

  10. It depends on how you want to look at it. I have been delivering pizza for a long time. Almost every pizza chain store charges a delivery fee. In most cases the store keeps the fee. Most stores do pay their drivers for mileage since they use their own cars. Normally the stores pay their drivers about $1 per delivery, so you could say that $1 of that fee goes to the driver. I'm a driver so I view it differently. I get paid the same now as I did before the fee, so I would say that drivers don't get any of the fee.

Drivers HATE the delivery charge. When stores implemented the delivery charge our pay stayed the same and our tips dropped dramatially.

The problem is that pizza places cannot possibly afford to pay drivers enough to cover the $3.50 a gallon gas and to compensate them for the increasing dangers they face. If drivers didn't get tips then their would be no pizza delivery available. On an average delivery the driver spends $2 in gas. Tips are basically the only money the drivers take home. There have been nights that I worked 4 hours and made less than $10. Most people tip the same now as they did 10 years ago even though gas prices have increased many times over.

  11. I bet the pizza shop gets the charge...and hopefully pays the delivery person more in wages.
