  3. A peach pit requires lots of chill time in the refrigerator.  Depending on where you live and what variety of peach you have, it could be anywhere from 200-400 hours.  Peaches need that chill to sprout in the spring.

    There are many valuable websites that talk specifically about peach pits.  If you plant a peach directly into the soil it most likely won't do anything but sit there.

  4. I really doesn't matter.

    If you don't, it may take longer for water to reach the center and such, but the seed is more protected in the ground.

    or the alternative to just get a small peacj tree that is already out of the ground and growing.
