When I play a dvd in WMP or Dell Cineplayer or anything else, the computer crashes and goes to a blue screen saying that the problem is caused by "nv4_disp.dll". What should I do?

I have a 8800GT and I think this is the first time I have played a dvd movie with it. I bought the card about 3 months ago. I'v installed the new drivers over and over but the same problem occurs. I'v tried it on both of my dvd drives and the same thing happens.

Anyone else had the problem or know what is causing it?

  1. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  2. trying stepping away from the puter slowly

  3. the first thing i would try is too update the driver for your DVD drive.  i bet that will solve your problem.  otherwise, the actual hardware (the DVD drive) is faulty, but you can get that replaced.

  4. This blue screen is basically telling you that there is a problem with a driver. Most people call this blue screen as, BSOD, meaning Blue Screen Of Death.

    To see what driver is having problems go;

    Right-Click My Computer > Manage > Device Management > See if any device is having problems

    Fix them by downloading the drivers and installing them.
