When I play movies off of my PS3 which is hooked to a Denon 1908 receiver I can't get them to play in Dolby.

Question

My Receiver isn't getting the dolby signal. It plays dolby on regular tv just not the playstation. I have looked through the PS3 sound settings and made sure it was in auto and that dolby 5.1 was a option. Also the two units are hooked up using a HDMI cable. I'm so bummed because I brought the playstation for the blueray and am a avid movie lover. :(( any help would be greatly appreciated

If you set Lpcm on BD/DVD setting output ( HDMI ) on PS3 menu, you can't see Dolby or DTS signal. But your Denon receiver is playing either. You can check that by pressing display button on PS3 remote, it' ll show you informations on TV screen.

some ps3s are able to read and decode dolbydigital but they may not be able to transmit the same format to other multimedia devices or components, like your receiver. check with sony if your ps3 has the most recent firmware update for that issue.

note: receivers only display info which they receiver from sources.

Set your receiver to Pro Logic :)
