  3. It's probably not up to date, you have to update it.

It would help to know the model number of the camera but there are two likely problems, one is that the shutter release button is "stuck" because of dirt or damage.  You MAY be able to fix this type of problem by gently wiggling the release button or tapping the camera VERY GENTLY on a hard surface.

    The other likely source of the problem is the electronic circuitry in the camera, about the only thing you can do for this is to try cleaning the metal electrical contacts inside the camera.  Use a small amount of alcohol on a cotton swab.

    Then try putting a couple of the old cover cards back into an empty cartridge and insert it into the camera.  If it only spits out one you have probably fixed it; if it spits out more than one it is probably NOT fixed.

    These cameras are rarely economical to repair even if you can find someone who will fix them.
