When I reply a recorded

When I reply a recorded .asf media file in Windows media player (ver. 11), I can't seem to fast forward and backward the clip; that means I cannot choose the scene to watch, all it can do is to play the clip from the beginning to the end. How can I fix it? Your help is greatly appreciated.
