When I save a picture in dreamweaver it is .gif format, but when I upload to my webpage it will not show.?

My picture is saved as an .gif picture in a page on my webpage. When I upload this to my site, it does not appear. When I right click the space where my picture should be and click properties it says that my picture is *****.htm, image type unknown.

Open the picture with your image editing software (Photoshop, Paint Shop, whatever one you use) and check the properties there. Naming it a .gif in dreamweaver won't convert it if it was originally saved and/or uploaded in another format. I experienced a problem similar to the one you're describing, and that was the cause.
