When I say Sabbath what do you think about?

No, not asking the Saturday or Sunday question. I am asking if for you is it a day of rest, just another day, a day to get drunk, a day to go to church then live life as usual? Is the Sabbath a day when work stops?

What does it mean to you?

  1. I think about a time when the entire earth will observe the Sabbath of YHVH when His Kingdom returns.

How calm, quiet, and serenely peaceful it will be when everyone surrounding us enjoys a day of absolute rest. A complete day set apart as our Creator instructed to honor and worship Him.

Isa 66:22  "For just as the new heavens and the new earth Which I make will endure before Me," declares the LORD, "So your offspring and your name will endure.

Isa 66:23  "And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from sabbath to sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down before Me," says the LORD.

Enjoying the seventh day Sabbath today gives us a tiny glimpse of what He has in store for His people upon His return.

Isa 64:4  For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

1 Cor 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Isa 58:13  "If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot From doing your own pleasure on My holy day, And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own pleasure, And speaking your own word,

Isa 58:14  Then you will take delight in the LORD, And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

  7. Sabbath Keeping is in obedience to the word of God.

If for some reason I had to work on that day I would although the Lord has made it possible for me not to have to work on His Holy day.

    Thanks for asking...

What is the Sabbath to me???

I grew up with Sunday keeping.  Generally Pentacostal.

It was'nt until I was disfellowshiped from a Sunday keeping church for attending an SDA church.  I was told that it was a sin to attend the SDA.  Then I began to search out the Sabbath.  I learned that the times mentioned in the new testiment for the first day of the week were all for a purpose other that for what it is today, worship and honor.  There are numerous scriptures that talk of the commandments of God.  I seen that just because Christ came and was crucified did not mean that He came to change His Law but to establish it.

God tells us that He will bless those who keep His Sabbath.

When one runs a race I asume they run to win and to win one is subject to following the rules.

Sabbath Rest, I to this day am in labor to enter into that day of rest fully.  My whole being is or has been geared to Sunday worship.

I attend SDA very little, for I do not care for that spirit of E.G white that lurks amonst the congragation.

I am much more into a Pentacostal Sabbath Rest and time of worship unto Father God, Jesus Christ.  This to me is in spirit and in truth.

  8. Rest day maybe go to the park and watch the sunset or play!

  9. Just Sunday...

  10. I go to church and praise the LORD. That's what Sabbath means to me.

  11. I'm not overly religious, so it has to be Black Sabbath!

  13. It reminds me of Sabbat, the evil vampire clan, from an awesome video game.

  14. go to church then live normally i guess.

  15. Day of rest made holy by the Eternal.

  16. Yup, Black Sabbath.

  17. sabbathooth tiger...?

  18. I don't go to the church!

I guess it's just a day to rest and have a good time!

  19. It means it is the seventh day of the week to me.  The prohibition regarding work was a commandment required of ancient Israel only, through the old covenant. Only God and Israel were parties to that covenant.

    .

  20. The sabbath is of importance only to those that  tend to ignore God the other six days.  .It was never set aside by God..  God bless

  21. Silly tradition.

  22. Sabbath to me means Jesus. We find rest ans solitude in him. No longer do we need a day of rest for Jesus is always available to give it. Now when the Bible says keep the Sabbath Holy, it means Christ. Keeping Christ holy in our lives by accepting him as savior, obeying his will, and loving Him above all else. For it is through disobedience that God will not give us his rest.

  23. I think of a vacation.  Like taking sabboth from your work, meaning to take a break and reevaluate your life.

I also think of the full moon, I'm one of those heathens people say not to suffer to live.  It's a big party in my life.

  24. It means its a day given to me to rest on,  enjoy and remember who my creator is (which u shud do everyday tbh)

Sometimes when i got a lot of work like revision etc, if it Saturday then i wont do it IF i don't want to.

  25. The Holy Ghost.  The promised comforter that Jesus said He would send in His name.  Speaking in other tongues as the spirit gives the utterance.  Something we can have 24/7 365 days.

  26. ozzy ozborne

  27. answer: it means my Jewish friends aren't online from sunset to sunset Friday to Saturday.

There is no sabbath in my religion

  28. Why does your question only mention Saturday and Sunday? Are you aware that you may be seen to be discriminating against Muslims and others?

I think of Friday for Muslims, Saturday for Jews, Sunday for Christians, and all the other days of the week shared between Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Confucists, Taoists, Animists, Agnostics and Atheists.

Since Sabbath is a purely human invention, surely humans should have the right to think about it as they wish, or ignore it altogether, if that is what they prefer.

  29. go to church, not go shopping or anything that will make other people work...a time for improvement.

  30. The sabbath was on saturday when the Jews didn't work at all.
