If I cut a small hole in a card and watch TV through the hole everything stands out clear. Why?

  1. You need glasses without a doubt

  2. Small aperture means that light is having to be focussed from fewer directions, so less blur.

Same happens when trying to read in bright light vs dim light. The pupil is small in bright light.

The classic extreme is a pinhole camera which needs no lens because the aperture is small.
