When I select Join This Group I am asked to Create a Profile what does it want of me ?

I attempt to "Join This Group" and am asked to Create a Profile. Do I not already have a Profile. Where do I set up a Profile and why is my name already used in almost every form I can type it. My name is not a common name at all. I have looked through the HELP section and don't see my answer. Please, someone guide me through this. I am not all that net literate. I hope my question follows the community guidelines, as I seem to have missed those also. Sorry and Thanks.

try not using your real name when creating an account. yahoo has large memberships, wouldn't surprise me that your name is already used.

your other choice is going to that group and send an e-mail to the subscribe address, which you'll then be a mail only member
