When I send a sms txt to a phone what is the number that shows on there phone the msg came from.?

Question

I sent the msg via yahoomessenger to there phone, when they got it the sms txt said it came from (ex. 12345678) when I sent one to my phone it said it came from (ex. 12345).

they showed it came from an 8 digit number on there cell, mine said it came from a 5 digit number. What are these numbers, will they always be those numbers for future sms txt msg and why were they different.

Yes

The easiest way to explain it is to show you

the first 5 numbers is  Yahoo -92466 and the last 3 digits is your contacts ID number

If you save the# under their ID  it will always be the same

92466  123
