When I sing for fun my friends tell me I'm good but when I sing to show I'm nervous, how do I get over this? I want to work with music when I'm older it's my passion. At fifteen years of age I know this is what I want to do, I'm already writing music which my friends tell me I'm good at, but I'm not really sure if this is for me though I love it so much...What do I do?

  1. You have to get over your stage fright.  Really, the only way to do this is to just get up there and do it.  Its hard because you are so young--normally I would recommend going and doing karaoke, buuuuut that, at least in my experience, has always happened in bars.  Keep an eye out, though--perhaps you can find a place where you can go as an under-ager.  In the mean time, try out for anything and everything--if this is what you want to do, now is the time to get over your stage fright, not later.  Community theater/musicals as well as your school shows.  Try out even if you aren't interested in the show--you will probably get some good critiques from the directors you audition for, plus the more you do it, the less nervous you will be.  Good luck!

  2. hey gal

start by singing in front of a large group of people.. no matter its yr friends or parents or relatives. it helps : )

  3. I remember I had this problem when I was younger. I took singing lessons and I could sing fine infront of my friends and close family but on stage I sounded like a lamb because my voice was shaking so much. I used to sing, dance, play piano, act, violin. Now, I do nothing because after that one embarrasment, I developed stage fright and ever since then I always get it everytime and I can no longer perform. I won't even touch the piano infront of my family and I love and miss it so much. If this is your true passion, do something about it fast before this happens to you. I have a feeling my life would have been somewhat different if I overcame my fear.

  4. Hi,

If you really want to sing, find a good teacher who you can really get on well with and one who has excellent reputation, then take singing lessons from them, your confidence will improve as well as your singing,... and you will give and gain lots....

    best wishes

  5. they say that even the biggest stars  from  rock n roll

    professional athletes to public speakers

get butterflies before they go on stage  or to preform

Its told that  Jim Morrison from the doors had stage fright so bad he could not look at the audience

He is one of the all time greats

I don't believe you would ever wish to get rid of being a bit nervous

because then you will always  remain humble

for to become over confident  means  a  performance  not totally from the heart

Always  leave the door open for mistakes   then be able to laugh at them

Have you ever seen the show   bloopers

the greatest stars  make mistakes  they laugh at them

then  it becomes a great show with in itself

Sing as of the whole world is your friends and family

because in a sense they are

then  you shall always   have fans  no matter where you are

    peace
