My voice use to sound clear. Now when I sing it sounds sort of raspy. It wasn't just today. It has been doing this. Could I have pulled a vocal muscle. (if that's possible) how long will it take to heal

are there any other reasons for my voice being like this

  1. you were close when you said you pulled a vocal muscle. lol it is impossible, but you did do damage to your vocal chords.

Were you at any event where you were screaming or talking louder than normal? We're you talking too much? There is such a thing.

Safest bet...and i know it sounds stupid but you'll have to do it...go on vocal rest. This means no talking or anything for a few days to a week. use a dry erase board to communicate with people and let them know your doing this and can't talk....they'll have to understand. your health comes first.

when you were originally singing were you a trained singer? that could also be a problem. if you were oversinging, and trying too hard to push certain notes out, then you damaged your chords for sure. you never sing from the throat, but instead your diaphragm.

if your voice is sounding rapsy still after your week of vocal rest, go to a doctor. you may have pollep build up on your chords. This has to be surgically removed, and can damage your voice forever.

    Well good luck!

and take it from me. I'm a vocally trained singer. We have to watch out for this kind of stuff.
