you get more flame... is this physical or chemical change? why?

  1. the oils in the orange juice are what are burning, I believe that would be a chemical change because the chemical chain in the juice is being changed.


  2. Any flame is a chemical change. It's called oxidation. You don't absolutely need a flame for oxidation. A good example is rust. Rust is iron oxide - or oxidized iron.

    The oils in the orange skin are chemically reacting with the heat and the oxygen and turning into another chemical.

    The orange peel itself has undergone a physical change. It has less oil than it did before you squeezed it.
