Program: svchost.exe

Path: C:/Windows/system32/

protocol: UDP (outbound)

location: Home

The / should be forward slashes instead.

Should I allow this program to connect to the web?

  1. Most likely a virus.

  2. EDIT NOTICE: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS IN FACT NOT A VIRUS, NO NEED TO BE ALARMED WHATSOEVER.

It's a normal windows process and it should be permitted to access the web. It is a perfectly normal process.

For a detailed description: According to Microsoft: "svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries".

  3. http://www.liutilities.com/products/wint...

  4. hi it's impossible to tell svchost.exe is a generic process which is being used by something else, download an application such as process explorer this should be able to tell you which application is behind this

  5. svchost.exe can be a ligitimate Windows process ... or a malicious application. For now don't let it access the net if you have the option to prevent this. Install Spybot on your pc and run it to check for spyware etc. If you don't have any anti-virus software running you can go to www.trendmicro.com and run a free scan of your computer there.

  6. So many opinions so many with no answer  the answer to your question is this :

svchost.exe is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.
