  1. If it shows what looks like a little peice of paper with a red "x" on it then it is in the incorrect format.  

    I'm sorry I don't know how to fix this problem, just answering your last question there.

  2. Depends on where you're trying to upload it. If it's the personal profile picture module, then it's probably has nothing to do with format. The module is glitchy and often shows an "x" in place of a picture. There's really not much that can be done about it than maybe deleting one of the other images.

    With that said, images should be in JPEG format (with .jpg, .jpeg, or .jpe extension). The file size should be under 250KB for use as a background and under 5MB everywhere else.
