When I turn on my comp, an observation box appears with updates for win, what should i do?

Nowadays, it is hard to tell if these are genuine or not.

So, depending on your Windows version, find out from the Help section where to set it up for automatic updates. Turn off automatic, then select to "update now". This way you are in control of it, and are getting them guaranteed from the Microsoft site.

Updates are needed from time to time, as they put out fixes for little security problems, and updates for new hardware, browsers etc.

Set up your virus scanners and other software to also not do automatic updates. Then update them manually once a week, just before doing your weekly "housekeeping" scans.
