  1. best bet for the beach is take the dart southbound to killiney or bray or dun laoghaire that will cost on average less than 5 euro but more than 2 ok taxis are hard to say because of traffic etc. don't act like a tourist taxi men can sometimes charge extra because they think your not wise beware

  2. If you're worried about the cost of taxis then make sure you take plenty of money - I love Dublin, but it is very expensive - especially for drinks.  I found the following review:

"The problem with Dublin taxis is that there are nothing like enough of them. every time the Irish government wants to introduce new taxi licenses to increase the supply, existing taxi drivers take to the streets in protest. Why? The mind boggles. In the mean time, a common sight in Dublin is the extra-long taxi queue, because with the way things are at the moment, and with Dublin's public transport shutting down pathetically early, demand for taxis far outweighs demand. So if you want an 'official' taxi, complete with roof sign, be prepared to wait in line for anything up to 3 hours on a weekend night.

Alternatively, you could try an unofficial taxi, or 'hackney', which 'proper' taxi drivers would have us believe are unreliable, untrustworthy, and unhelpful. On the contrary, my experience with hackneys has been that they are generally cheaper than taxis, that their prices are negotiable, and that the drivers are as likely to be friendly and knowledgeable as any taxi driver is likely to be. And what's more, there's plenty of them.

At the moment, I would recommend a hackney over a taxi any day. It would be preferable to hire a taxi with a distinguishable license and number in case of complaint, but the simple fact is that the service is just not good enough. Until the Dublin taxi drivers wake up to the major deficiencies in their service, the hackneys will continue to be the only option. "

  3. well the taxi starts off about 4 euro, and a bus wouldnt be more than 1.80 cent but u could get a bus and train ticket for the day

  4. Visit Bull Island, it's the best beach in Ireland. You can take the dart to Clontarf station - walk out of there and take a bus or better still you could take the beautiful walk down along the front towards bull island. Better still take a cab and ask him to take you to Bull Island, enjoy the beauty and on the way back out, you can take the bus(5 mins) back into the city. Have fun - hope you visit there. Beautiful views of Dublin Port, Dublin & Wicklow mountains and Howth, its surrounded by golf courses, kite surfing, and a fantastic long long beach, enjoy. With regards to a cab to there, from the city centre shud cost you about 10-12Euro.

Alternatively take the dart to Malahide (bout 20 mins ride and costs little to nothing) when you come out of the station take a left and a short walk will find you in the marina and right on the beaches there...very nice also.

You can also take a cab or the Dart to Sandymount, 15 mins cab ride, and here you can witness Dublin port and the beach stretches out as far as the eye can see, its an absoultely huge huge beach and it runs up to Dun Laoighre. Very busy in the evenings with people walking and cycling. Have fun.

  5. Depends on how good you are at haggling, just returned from 2 weeks in lreland and you can get good rates ,if you haggle before you get into a taxi

  6. not to sure it starts off at 2 euro standard rate not sure after that have fun and watch your wallet

  7. My advice would not to give those cu.nts any of  your money. They are all arrogent and lazy pric.ks. They are very expensive. If it is just you in the taxi it could be €2.50 per km, even more if your stuck in traffic. As for the buses then it should be in the region of €1.80 for the fare (much the bettter option)
