This is really annoying. When the Bose V20 is connected to a DVD player it shows 5.1. When I play PS3 games the display also shows 5.1, even when watching BluRay movies it's PCM 2.0. PLEASE HELP!

  1. The bose system is automatic, meaning if the source is outputting 2.0, the bose system will read PCM 2.0, if the source outputs 5.1, the bose system will read 5.1

For example, if you have a set-top box attached, and you are watching a show in 5.1, during the show, it will display 5.1, but during a stereo recorded commercial, it will show PCM 2.0

This means that it is a problem with the source, in this case either the DVD or the PS3, or the cable, first you want to use a TOSlink cable (digital optical), then you want to make sure the PS3 is set up to output 5.1, then you may want to go into the settings on the DVD menu and select 5.1 from the DVD settings menu, some DVDs, even though the player and the system are 5.1, will automatically set it to 2.0, if all your connections and settings are correct on the PS3 and DVD, you should get 5.1

  2. Fisrt you have to connect optical cable from PS3 to Bose. If you already did, you go to sound settings on PS3 menu to choose optical out and you may do the same with Bose system.
