When Is It Best To Charge An Ipod Nano?

Question

I recently got a Ipod Nano (8GB). But I don't know when to charge it.

Q1. What type of batteries do they have?

- eg) Lithium-ion, etc.

Q2. When should I charge it;

- My Friend says to wait until it's completely dead and I can't turn it on.

- My Dad says I should charge when at least 80-90% is gone.

Q3. How long should I charge it?

- Do I charge it until it's 100% fully charged

- or should I just charge it until around 90% is charged.

I ask all this because I know some batteries don't like to be charged fully and it can kill its life-span.

Also if I leave certain type of batteries to just die, it might shorten the life-span, when the opposite can take place with a different battery and shorten the span if it doesn't drain out.

charge it when it is about 95% gone, if you charge it too soon, the battery will become accustomed to being charged at that level.  and you should charge it until it is 100%.

Charge it when it is completely dead and charge it up to 100%, so you battery will last longer.
