  1. Buckfast Tonic Wine

  2. not grape juice, the book of matthew says the guys that drank it were drunk, and got even more drunk. Based on the region, it was likely a  deep red, but no matter, it was really good wine acording to the Gospels so I will iken it to  a bordeaux

  3. What difference does it make?  You're missing the point that Jesus performed His first miracle, and the wine was the best they had ever tasted.

John 2:7-10 -- 7Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  8Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."

They did so, 9and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."

  4. It was Holy Wine, which was created by God through the actions of Jesus.

    Just read your Bible!

  5. I think it was closer to a Chianti

  6. According to scripture the guests declared you have saved the "Best" wine for last, one can only imagine what the taste of God's ambrosia  except for those who were there.  It was Him he offered to them and what a precious gift that was for that wedding.

Jesus didn't turn anything into wine - impossible; just like it is impossible to be 'the son of god' - which just sounds ridiculous.

Given you've been on this board for so long, I'm sure you've read the arguments regarding drinking etc and you know the debates over the appropriate understanding of oinos in this passage...

For everyone else reading this... Oinos is a Greek word that could mean fermented or unfermented grape-based drinks and so could be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Given the large quantity that Jesus produced (equivalent to something like 750 bottles of wine) for guests who had already consumed all the existing wine, it is likely that this particular wine was nothing short of the best darn grape juice you've ever had.

Jesus would not have advocated drunkenness (though was not averse to partaking in the odd beverage himself otherwise he couldn't have been accused of being a 'drunkard') and so would not have produced a large quantity of alcoholic beverage of such high quality that people would have probably consumed a lot of it - that would have resulted in a lot of drunken Jews...
