  1. Did the English pay for the Commonwealth games when they were held in Edinburgh?

    .

  2. hopefully it will not be long until we are done with the Union and done with their commonwealth and scots can finally stop subsidising the union and be free

  3. Naw hen the powers that be will steal some mair

of oor oil  ta pey fur it.

  4. No, GB taxes payed for it. Every country in GB has to help fund the london olympics through their taxes even though really england will be benefiting. It will be a bit unfair if scotland do have to fund it themselves so i hope that ain't true.

  5. The whole of the UK I think.  I'll go check.

Yes.. and more!  "The Manchester Games have already received £288.5m of public money - £83m from the council, £165m from the National Lottery via Sport England and £40.5m from the government. "

The above text came from an article here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/special_...

Many other funders also stumped up, especially from individual sports for their own contestants, and I found one article that said Canada donated too: http://www.canadianheritage.gc.ca/newsro...
