I do wish Mark the best though. Always a stand up guy, class act and very respectful of everyone in Nascar. This is a guy that is truly thankful to be a driver at this level.

That would be great if he did but I think Jr should keep the 88 he has already started creating a legacy for that number and has created his own identity away from the 8 and DEI.

No,sir. Martin will be piloting the number 5 car for two reasons:1)Rick Hendrick will never let go of the number 5 because that was his first car number(with Geoff Bodine;1984) and 2)D.E.I. made it clear when Jr. left that they had no intention of relinquishing that number to a different team,either.Either way,I hope Mark makes one more run at a title that he deserves........Go Mark!!!!!!!

Nope... The Monster in charger over there,, said last yr she has no interests in giving up the #8. That way 'Mail Fraud Rick' can not let Jr have it.

I heard chatted that some other teams were looking at the number 8 but there was a deal that they could not traid it to HMS... thats just a grape vine info i heard.

I suppose Mark 'could' take the #8 with him, but he would probably get busted when he shows up at Daytona in '09 with a big #8 on his car!

Of course not. Teresa is gonna hold on to that number as long as she could.

Mark is a respected veteran but I don't think running a number for 1 yr earns you the right to keep that number. If anything that should apply to the #6, but we know thats not gonna happen as well.

It wouldn't really surprise me if T.E. let it go now. Sounds like somethin' she would do just to get that one last dig into Junior. At this point...who really cares? Junior already has his spot very well established and the #8 is like DEI...history to him. =o`)

I think it will stay at DEI the #8.  

That would be rather bizarre if Martin drove the #8 at HMS and Jr. was in the 88.
