When New Zealand win the Rugby World Cup, do you think people are going to stop calling them chokers?

NZ have been favs for every WC and only won the first 1, reaching the final just once in the 20 years after that considering they are "the best team in the world" this is not a good record

Compared to australia .... with 3 finals and 2 wins looks even worse

NZ have choked in the last 4 WC  and i suspect will again

Well the World Cup is NZ's to lose isn't it.

If they don't win it the 'chokers' label will be confirmed and if they do, they still missed out in 4 previous world cups.

Who cares ?

NZ are the best in the world.

We don't actually need a little trophy and the rest of the world to tell us we are the best.

I think some of you dipshits need a little wake up call

No other team in the world has beaten NZ more times than we have beaten them. In fact not even half as many times!

Some very good rugby nations like Scotland, Ireland, Argentina and Italy, have never beaten NZ.  RSA is the only country that comes close. Australia simply doesn't. We have played like 128 tests against Australia and how many have Australia won? - 38 ! NZ have seven tri-nations championships, Australia and RSA's two each !  



And here's a little known fact - England have never beaten NZ at any world cup. England have the glorious honour of being the only world champs not to have beaten NZ at any WC. We have played 29 test, England have only won 6 !

That kind of makes a mockery of the whole world champ title - who needs it? NZ certainly does bloody not. It's a young mickey mouse comp designed to make money rather than growing the game.

And here's the real kicker - the best rugby you are ever likey to see this year won't be in France - it will be played in bare feet in backyards by kids right across NZ - and by the time those kids finish high school - just like every other rugby comp, NZ will have won more world cups than any other nation.

We can't sing, have limited fashion sense, and far too many recipes for lamb chops -  But only fools and Australians have good cause to doubt reality - New Zealand is the greatest rugby nation in the world. The cups ours . . . if we want it.

Edit: Aussie5468 - I AM fully rattled, that "chokers" label really gets up me!  Nothing wrong with being beaten by a better team on the day - Good call on the stats mate, Australia's WC stats are lovely, but you know what mate? If you had won the last world cup final they would look even better - I did my dough big time backing the green and gold to take the final. What happened mate? Did Gregan and the boys . . .CH . . . Yes Damian, all the facts you've quoted above are correct. However, that still doesn't change the fact that NZ have choked every RWC from 1991 onwards. That MUST be eating away at you lot across the ditch............

Here's another little fact for you:

The Wallabies have won twice as many world cups as NZ, or to put it another way, Australia has won as many world cups as both NZ & RSA combined!!! I love statistics, don't you?

MB1810, the chokers label is well & truly confirmed, and has been since 1995. We don't need yet another early RWC departure from the AB's to comfirm that! And by the way, it isn't NZ's RWC to lose, I believe England are the title holders ;-)

New Zealand public are very unforgiving when the AllBlacks lose any game let alone  the W.Cup.We could win 9 out of 10 games in a typical year but the public only remember the one they lost.Winning the cup with put alot of our demons aside and people will forget the "choking tag"{which really gets up me too} until they lose their nxt game ,which is not very often.

When they win, no one that calls them chokers will even be here!!!  The poms hardly show their faces because they know they have no chance.  The Aussies are actually believing their own hype and seriously think they will win it, so they are going to be shattered.  The Irish may be here since they would have had time to l**k their wounds after bowing out in the pool stages.  The Welsh will still be off in delusion land as always and the French will have forgotten all about it and be back to concentrating on the important things... like wine.
