I am 18 year old female student. I am graduating high school this year, and I would like to enlist into the army to help pay for an education. Can someone tell me some of the fields available to girls in the army? And how I could start this process?

  1. So your not going to join the service if McCain gets elected?  Kind of odd...my guess is you think all the conflicts will stop.  Here to tell you that they won't.  We will be involved with Iraq for YEARS and Afghanistan is nowhere near ready.  Then Russia is acting up along with Iran and N. Korea.

If you are looking for a free ride, get a scholarship.  If you want to work and serve the country, join the service.  Either way...your going to Deploy.

You can do pretty much anything you want with exception to Combat Arms.

  2. Well first off he aint gonna win. Second off, if by some chance he does, he'll do all he can to restrict the armed forces, you'll get paid and all but you won't have anything to look forward too. I bet if could he would get rid of the military period.

  3. he wont win first of all

    lololol

  4. good choice cuz Obama is going to win! im going to enlist when he's voted in too

  5. do ROTC in college. just google it and you will see what I mean. It lets you go through college and graduate as an officer. You can apply for a scholarship, which is a TON of money, sometimes even a full ride. So you pay for your education with the military while you are going through college, and then you serve after you graduate.

  6. True, but he wants to cut $$ from the weapons defense program, rather than hold those responsible for the development for the lack of development.

If anything, the troops will be moved to Afghanistan.

With that out of the way, have you considered the National Guard?

20k enlistment bonus for critical MOS (contact recruiter), Federal assistance for college, State assistance (varies from state to state, CA doesn't offer any assistance), and the College First program where if you meet the requirements, you will not Federally deploy for 2 years. Allowing you to finish whatever units you finish in 2 years.

Another option is ROTC. Upon completion you serve 3 years Active or Reserve component as a 2nd LT.

Talk to a recruiter, ask about bonuses.

  7. Good for you!  First step should be to go speak with a local recruiter.  Bear in mind that they sugar-coat things (obviously) but still they will have tons of information for you.  Good luck!

heheee love the thumbs down because I said Obama will be elected.

  8. No matter who is President, you will serve under their term and follow all the orders given. This is clearly stated in your oath, once enlisting.

The Army active duty offers big bonuses, as well as Reserves (up to 20,000). A female can choose any job except Infantry, Special Forces ect. You CAN enlist as an MP (Military Police), which is the closest to being Infantry for females. You can do mechanics, aviation with Black Hawks, you can be an Officer - sky is the limit! The Army will even offer a College Kicker amount varying by if your full time, or part time.

I suggest you look into the ECS option, which entails: You can go to a university, or community college without being deployed for 2 to 4 years. Requirement: Minimum score is 50 on the ASVAB. You will be given an "allowance" that will be added in your pay, to cover some expenses of a college student.

I warn you though... if you enlist without the ECS option. You will be subject to deployment on behalf of the Army and President at any time. That means you will have to finish your education on your own time, or possibly enroll for an online degree - to complete over seas. The Army National Guard offers the same thing called "College First Option".

At this moment, many do not have time for college due to the conflicts in Iraq. You are a soldier first, before anything. I feel as though you will do great in any service chosen. But, my personal suggestion is to try the Air Force. They have their own community college, shorter deployments, and you generally will have more time to finish that degree in their Reserves program for a 6 year, 2 year IRR enlistment. Sounds good to you? Awesome. Go for it!

  9. Why do u need to enlist when he wins? You still might get sent to the sand pit thats not a cop-out i hope.... dont be afraid to go over seas... but anyway to everybody saying Obama wont win,

    (LAUGHING OUT LOUD AT YOU!!!)

{{{{{{pointing finger and laughing dramatically}}}}}}}}} You are so deep in denial.... Finally..... YES!!! now let paint that house BLACK!!!

  10. hes not gonna win

but u can be a nurse... easy to get a job afterwords were in a serious need for more nurses

  11. Why not find some other way to pay for college - there's no telling if you will return alive if you up and join the military

  12. By the time he is elected, you'll be too old. I love how all of the obamites are admitting that obama will lower the Standards of our Military, and remove the idea of Service TO our Country, and change it to service FROM our Country (enlisting just to get college money is wrong, we enlist to Serve.)

  13. It is a good thing that you want to serve your country. It is a benefit to get education help. Think about why your are wanting to go in. Make sure you are going in for the right reasons, not just for money. Realize that the army is needing every last person they can get so you will get promised a ton of things that probably won't happen.  You can do about anything you would like to do in the army. Usually females are not sent into combat, it just kind of happens. You need to be willing to move around. Other than that, most I know say it is just like having a regular job.

  14. Here's some information: "I (Name) do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic and to obey the lawful orders of the President of the United States and the officers appointed over me..."

That's the first part of the oath of enlistment. If you are not prepared to give full faith and credit to that oath, then you should not join the Army. I served under seven different Presidents of both political parties. One didn't even get a single vote of the Electoral College for either President or Vice President. I couldn't pick and choose who my President and Commander-In-Chief would be. You can't either!

As for your assertion of a lie in connection with our military offensive in Iraq, you might want to read the link below. Begin reading after the first "whereas". You might find out that is the main stream media which has been lying to you.

    Sincerely,

Retired Navy Officer (25 years of service)
